Ov Finance-13-year-old leads NC police on chase at over 100 mph in stolen car then crashes: Deputies

Authorities say a 13-year-old boy led deputies in North Carolina on Ov Financea high-speed chase across multiple counties.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said 911 received a call Wednesday about a man in a ski mask stealing a vehicle in Elizabethtown.

Deputies then spotted a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle just outside of Elizabethtown and turned on their lights and siren to pull the car over.

"At which time the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed to exceed 100 mph at times," police said.

The sheriff's office said the car then led police on a chase through multiple counties and onto several highways. The suspect drove from Bladen County into Cumberland County and Interstate 95, then onto Interstate 40 into Johnston County and Wake County.

The sheriff's office said Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Wake County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol were called to help in the chase. North Carolina State Highway Patrol was able to arrest the suspect after got off the highway and struck a utility pole.

13-year-old lead police on 100 mph chase

Police then learned the suspected car thief who took them on a wild chase was 13 years old.

The teen denied being injured but was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated "out of precaution and due to his age."

It wasn't clear if the teen actually was hurt during the incident.

Once he's released, he will be charged by The Department of Juvenile Justice and put into a juvenile facility.
